Reloxin – New Alternative to Botox
Better than Botox? Can it be? Odds are if you have had a Botox injection you’ve heard of Reloxin, a new aternative to Botox.
The FDA is reviewing data for Reloxin the “new Botox” and the data looks real good. This is the first new product that will compete head to head with Botox. To date, all of the studies demonstrate that Reloxin (also known as Dysport) is safe and effective and for some reason works better in women compared to men.
Patients who had both medications report that Reloxin works quicker than Botox. These patients claim that Botox has a more gradual onset of action where Reloxin onset is abrupt and kicks in fast. Studies do report that Botox is a larger molecule than Reloxin, and since bigger things move more slowly in muscle will this difference matter? Will Reloxin be better than Botox?
The fact is dermatologists, plastic surgeons and cosmetic patients are all exctied about Reloxin. Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox, has to be scared.
